Rebecca Baron

I qualified from Manchester University in 1984 and practice half time as a GP and GP trainer in Stockport. I was appointed an Associate Dean for General Practice in 2003.

I first became involved in education as a course organiser in 1989, and since 1994 have been running MSc accredited leadership courses, as well as group leadership courses. I have had previous roles as Clinical Governance and Appraisal Lead for Stockport PCT.

I am passionate about the importance of education in developing and retaining our workforce, and believe that using a range of management and creative techniques can help support what can be an exciting yet challenging role. I am very interested in the theory of what supports resilience, and the evidence for how we can develop residence in our workforce, and am increasingly involved in disseminating this work.

I work with the education teams of Central and South Manchester and East Cheshire to support General Practice Training Programmes.  Other areas of work include revalidation and appraisal as well as developing leadership skills in the medical workforce. I have a particular interest in research as I believe we need to show evidence that the educational work we do makes a difference.
