ST1 Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Recruitment Overview


Welcome to National ST1 Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Training Recruitment 

Health Education England and the Royal College of Psychiatry commenced a pilot run through training programme in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry for the first time in 2018 for posts commencing in August 2018. This pilot will continue for the next recruitment round, for posts commencing from August 2020. NB. There are no further recruitment rounds for this run-through specialty in 2019.

Health Education England (North West Local Office) is coordinating the national process for recruiting trainees into these ST1 CAMHS posts.

For August 2020, it is anticipated that there will be up to 20 posts across England - details of the participating regions can be found via the indicative vacancies list under the Current Round section.

The Application window will open at 10am (UK time) on Thursday 7th November 2019 and will close at 4pm (UK time) on Thursday 28th November 2019. Applications must be made via Oriel and no late applications will be accepted.

Please note for 2020 there will be a single application process for CT1 Core Psychiatry and ST1 Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, which will be listed in Oriel as CT1 Core Psychiatry. Applicants will have the opportunity to preference available posts in either or both specialties when preferences open (details can be found within the recruitment timeline and Applicant Guide).

2019 National Recruitment Timetable

For reference purposes only, there are no further recruitment rounds for ST1 Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in the 2019 Timetable. The next recruitment round will be for posts commencing from August 2020. NB. Please refer to the CT1 Core Psychiatry pages of our web site for full details of the 2020 timetable for both CT1 Core Psychiatry and ST1 CAMHS recruitment.
