Andy Jones

I joined the Deanery in 2007 following a long standing interest in postgraduate medical training in my specialty of Urology. I have been Training Programme Director, chair of the STC and Royal College of Surgeons Regional Specialty Advisor.

 

I was also a long standing examiner for the intercollegiate board in urology and led the team which developed the new style part 1 MCQ examination. I was an examiner assessor and appraiser until November 2012.

 

I was a Consultant Urologist in Blackburn from 1991 and led the development of the department and its ultimate merger with Burnley to create the East Lancashire Department of which I was an active member until retiring from clinical practice in February 2013.

 

At the Deanery I am responsible for the School of Medical Specialties, the specialty of Ophthalmology and lead for educator development (details available here). I also work with and support the education team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust.
