I joined the Deanery in August 2004 having just retired from clinical practice as a general adult psychiatrist. I have had a long involvement with training within my speciality, and experience of both assessing and supervising sick doctors.
My responsibilities fall into three catagories:
Specialities - I support the Specialist Training Committees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and on a temporary basis ENT and Occupational Health.
Geographical patch - I support postgraduate medical education in Pennine Acute Trust across the four sites: Bury, Oldham, North Manchester and Rochdale.
Portfolio - I am leading on underperformance and have responsibility for less than full-time (LTFT) trainees. In addition, I am representing the Deanery on both the Children's Strategic Workforce Board and Children Young People and Families' Workforce development Group Development.
In addition I am representing the Deanery in the development of the Children and Young People's Network and Maternity Services in Greater Manchester.
