The MA in Clinical Education is a modular course which aims to improve teaching skills and develop a critical understanding of how individuals learn in a clinical environment. Chiron Medal for Teaching and Training:

This annual award recognises excellence in teaching and training delivered by a physician. The award comprises a medal and the opportunity to contribute a related article to the College Journal or to present at a relevant symposium. The award is usually made at the St Andrews Day Symposium in November, and the medallist and their guest are invited to attend the St Andrews Dinner as guests of the College.

PGCert Medical Education (Part Time)


This programme will enable students to develop practical, generic skills in teaching and assessment underpinned by an understanding of educational theory; enhance their knowledge, skills and attitudes as medical teachers in relation to teaching and assessment; plan and deliver effective educational experiences and develop sound academic skills applicable to the field of medical education, including literature review and research.

The aims of the programme are to enable the individual participant to achieve the educational outcomes required for effective teaching and support of learning. Participants on the MMEd programme will also develop skills within a chosen area of Medical Education.

MSc / PGDip / PGCert Clinical Education (Online Distance Learning)


The aim of the programme is to promote high quality clinical education by helping participants reflect-upon and share insights about their practice, to understand and apply educational theories and evidence from the literature, and to help participants develop a good solid foundation in clinical education and educational research upon which they can continue to build their own academic career. PG Cert / PG Dip / MSc in Medical Education by e-Learning


The Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), Diploma (PgDip) and MSc in Medical Education form an e-Learning course offering build up of study credit via a three-stage progressive course, delivered online. The course will improve participants' understanding of educational principles and approaches and their ability to apply them in educational contexts.
