Promoting Excellence: GMC External Resource (Slides)

The GMC has prepared a set of slides to support the launch of the new standards which our education partners can use to introduce the new standards to trainers and others involved in educating and training medical students and doctors.  It is recommend that these are looked at conjunction with the FAQs for full background details.

Promoting Excellence: standards for medical education and training

These standards produced by the General Medical Council (GMC) set out requirements for the management and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.

These standards come into effect on 1 January 2016 and will supersede the previous standards in Tomorrow’s Doctors and The Trainee Doctor.

Trainer Standards Update

The GMC released their implementation plan for the recognition and approval of trainers in August 2012, which requires LETBs (i.e. HENW) as Learning Organisations to formally recognise trainers in their roles as Clinical and/or Educational Supervisors.  Following the integration of the Mersey and North Western deaneries one framework for the recognition of trainers will apply across HENW to ensure that the GMC standards are fully met by the July 2016 deadline.

Trainer Standards Update Autumn 2016

Following the GMC’s July 2016 deadline for the recognition and approval of trainers, here is the Autumn 2016 Trainer Standards Update. This includes information regarding gaining and retaining recognition moving forward.
