Fellowships are fully funded by NHS England, based on 1 day per week.
Fellows may reduce their clinical commitments, or they may choose to carry out this work in addition to current LTFT arrangements if suitable. Clinical and training time cannot drop below 50 percent, or exceed 100 percent. Several scenarios are outlined below:
It is important to understand that this may change the current time in training and the future certificate of completion (CCT) date. It is essential that resident doctors have a discussion with their current training programme director (TPD) and obtain their agreement prior to application.
Please note that, in line with national LTFT guidance, applications should be fully completed and submitted with a minimum of 16 weeks’ notice. This may mean your fellowship start date is adjusted. The fellowship will still run for 12 months from the agreed start date.
Regular supervision and mentorship will be provided by the relevant NHS England Associate deans, programme support teams and senior educators.
