In September 2016 HEE (NW) formed an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group with the aim of supporting the delivery of HEE’s work on equality and diversity which seeks to ensure that all trainee doctors and dentists are treated fairly and enabled to reach their full potential. The annual publication of data relating to doctors’ performance or progress of doctors at critical training milestones helps us investigate factors associated with variation – such as location, specialty or demographic characteristics.
The General Medical Council (GMC) has today (Thursday 21 July) published new research and data on the progression of doctors from different ethnicities and backgrounds through exams and recruitment.
Article written by Peter Maguire & Cathryn Pitcealthy, published in the BMJ 28th September 2002 examines key communication skills required to be an outstanding communicator:
"Good doctors communicate effectively with patients—they identify patients' problems more accurately, and patients are more satisfied with the care they receive. But what are the necessary communication skills and how can doctors acquire them?"
Health Education North West has developed tools to help you focus and reflect on your leadership skills. The following leadership development tools were originally designed for use by trainees on the Medical Leadership Fellowship programme, but have since been developed for use by all trainees, GPs, Consultants, SASG and other post CCT doctors. If you are a trainee, you can use the tools and attach to your portfolio. Similarly, GPs, Consultants and other post CCT doctors can attach the tools to your revalidation portfolio.
