Resources

Welcome to the Resources section of the website. Here you will find a collection of documents, websites, articles, books, presentations and videos relating to Careers, Educator Development and Medical Leadership.

You can filter the resources to make it easier to find what you are looking for. At the right hand side of the page (or at the bottom of the page if using a mobile device) you will find a number of tick boxes separated into Section, Category and Type. You can tick just one box or a number of boxes depending on what you are looking for but if your selection returns no resources you may need to broaden your search or try a different combination.

We hope that you find this page useful but if you experience any difficulties or have any suggestions for improvements please feel free to contact us at pgmde.nw@hee.nhs.uk.

HEE (NW) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group

In September 2016 HEE (NW) formed an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion group with the aim of supporting the delivery of HEE’s work on equality and diversity which seeks to ensure that all trainee doctors and dentists are treated fairly and enabled to reach their full potential.  HEE is committed to ensuring that all trainee doctors are treated with dignity and respect and are able to learn in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Communication Skills

Article written by Peter Maguire & Cathryn Pitcealthy, published in the BMJ 28th September 2002 examines key communication skills required to be an outstanding communicator:

"Good doctors communicate effectively with patients—they identify patients' problems more accurately, and patients are more satisfied with the care they receive. But what are the necessary communication skills and how can doctors acquire them?"

Leadership Development Tools

Health Education North West has developed tools to help you focus and reflect on your leadership skills. The following leadership development tools were originally designed for use by trainees on the Medical Leadership Fellowship programme, but have since been developed for use by all trainees, GPs, Consultants, SASG and other post CCT doctors. If you are a trainee, you can use the tools and attach to your portfolio. Similarly, GPs, Consultants and other post CCT doctors can attach the tools to your revalidation portfolio.
