The GP International Induction and Return to Practice Programmes

Whether you have NHS experience or not, the NHS GP International Induction Programme (IIP) and Return to Practice (RtP) programmes are designed to provide a safe, supported and direct route for qualified GPs to join or return to NHS General Practice.

If you do not have a post graduate qualification in General Practice but are interested in training to be a GP in the UK, then please go to the following link - england.gprecruitment@nhs.net

GP International Induction Programme

All EEA nationals (except Irish citizens) and international doctors will require a Skilled Worker visa to work in the UK. For details on Visa applications and support from NHS England and NHS Improvement when applying please follow this link: Skilled Worker Visa requirements for non UK citizens

GP Return to Practice Scheme

The programme provided will be tailored to meet your needs, experiences and personal commitments. Once you have registered for the appropriate scheme you will have access to your own dedicated account manager to guide you through the process. That’s not all, there’s more financial support too.

What’s on offer?

A bursary of up to £3,500 a month whilst you are on a clinical placement

  • Help towards indemnity costs and other fees
  • Help towards the costs of child or social care
  • Access to a dedicated NHSE Account Manager
  • Options to complete most parts of the scheme before moving to England if you are living overseas
