Study Leave Process
The general practice study leave budget is for the education of GP specialty trainees. The education budget is limited and it is public money. The Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education has responsibility for ensuring efficient spending. Study leave is not a right and cannot be absolutely guaranteed. Study leave must be applied for in advance and forms approved in accordance with the Study Leave Policy.

Who to email an application form to
The study leave process asks you to email your Training Programme Director or their administrator. Some TPDs would prefer trainees to email themselves directly rather than an administrator. The following document lists the TPDs and who to email for purposes of study leave..

Travel to GP Teaching
You can claim travel expenses to GP Teaching by completing an EDUC form and emailing it to GPstudyleave@hee.nhs.uk. Please note you can only claim mileage from your normal place of work rather than your home.
