Welcome to the North West School of Surgery
Our aim is to be an outstanding School of Surgery that delivers personalised educational programmes for all our doctors in training and supports our trainers to deliver these programmes.
We have active regional educational programmes in all specialties. We have a doctor in surgical training forum/committee that meets twice a year and individual specialty training committees with doctor in surgical training representatives, that meet at least twice a year. We aim to develop the specialty training programmes/posts in keeping with changing curriculum requirements. We work closely with the SACs to ensure fair assessment and career progression. We enjoy good relationships with all the UK colleges. They have been very supportive of educational days for both surgical educator and medical students interested in surgery.
With the two former deaneries merging (Mersey and North Western) some of our training programmes are across both sectors, and others are separate. Please see each specialty page to get further details (links to the individual specialty pages can be accessed through the menu on the right of this page). The Training Programme Directors contact details are on each of the specialty pages. There is a specific area to help surgical educators from all specialties.
